Ireanus J. Lietemeyer

Ireanus Joseph Lietemeyer was born on June 28, 1885 in New Iberia, Louisiana, to John Earnest Lietemeyer and the former Esther Heelieu. After attending the public schools in New Iberia, Lietemeyer entered LSU in 1901 and graduated in 1903. Lietemeyer went to work in the lumber industry and joined the National Guard when the United States entered the war. He became a second lieutenant, leading Company F, 127th Infantry, 32nd Division and saw combat at Chateau Thierry. He was wounded in battle on August 4, 1918 and died two days later. Lietemeyer is buried in France.
