Maurice Joseph Picheloup, Jr.
1893 - 1918
Maurice Joseph Picheloup, Jr. was born on March 3, 1893 in New Orleans. He graduated from St. Aloysius College in 1909 and entered LSU the same year where he was a member of the rifle team. Picheloup left LSU to enter Tulane University to pursue a degree in commercial law and was a member of the baseball team. After graduation, he became a contractor and manufacturer of building supplies in New Orleans. In August of 1918, Picheloup enlisted in the United States Naval Reserve as an apprentice seaman and was immediately assigned to a position in the Office of the Commandant in New Orleans. Picheloup died of influenza on October 8, 1918 and was survived by his wife, the former Euphemia St. Hilaire.
