Welcome to GeauxShax!

Welcome to GeauxShax, a student-driven website dedicated to showcasing some of the extraordinary Shakespeare-related materials in the collections of Louisiana State University's Hill Memorial Library.  This site hosts an eclectic array of some of Hill's Shakespearean books, pamphlets, manuscripts, and more, all of which have been carefully researched by LSU students to make these items more visible and widely accessible to Shakespeare enthusiasts around the world.  Browse the list of objects to get a sense of the wide variety of Bard materials residing in Hill.

In addition to showcasing these objects, this site also showcases the ways LSU students have creatively reimagined these Shakespeare items.  Taking their research into each of these objects as a jumping-off point, the students contributing to this site generated some inspired interpretive responses to Hill's collection of Shakespeareana.  By digging into the material qualities of these Shax objects, the students generated new materials; by interrogating the ways Hill's objects carry the idea of Shakespeare in their physical form, the students envisioned new ways and media for thinking about form and Shakespeare.  As Ophelia notes, "we know what we are, but know not what we may be."  This sampling of Hill's Shakespeare holdings is dedicated both to what these items are, and what they might otherwise be.
